This Blog Sucks

As far as personal reflection goes, that’s an important one for this week.  As I’ve been trying to develop my today.com blogging page I’ve learned that blogging is a lot harder than it seemed from afar.  It’s hard to come up with unique, interesting ideas on a myriad of topics each week.  It’s difficult trying to gauge what my reading audience may find interesting and what my focus should be.  It’s intense work to put out quality, well-researched articles every.single.day.  It’s tough finding the proper mix of informality and seriousness to pitch my angle and my tone on different stories.  It’s hard designing the page and perfecting the layout.  It’s funny, I had a similar revelation when I got involved in journalism.

Over the past few weeks I’ve learned a lot about blogging.  As I’ve been writing and reading blog after blog I’ve been thinking hard about improving my page.  I think it will involve a layout change, and a shift in focus.  I’ve realized I don’t like switching topics every day.  I think a blog is a place to learn and grow along with the readership and it’s been difficult to do that jumping from topic to topic with no connection each day.  Good blogs find a flow and stick to a rhythm.  I’m genuinely interested in the topics I put out each day of the week-Politics.  Finance.  Current Events.  Environment.  Life.  But these topics cannot be squeezed into neat little text boxes.  They intermingle and run into each other.  They overflow and interrelate.  So expect to see a new format at twixster coming soon, and in the meantime fellow bloggers-I would love to hear any advice or funny stories you have to share about your blogging experiences.
